Meet the Team
President & Principal Engineer
Aaron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a Master’s in Business Administration, and a Master’s in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Management. With over 12 years of experience in FEMA Public Assistance, he has worked on disaster recovery efforts in Ohio, Texas, Louisiana, and New Jersey. Aaron was specifically chosen by FEMA management as the sole Architect/Engineer on a special task force in New Orleans, dedicated to resolving disputes on high-profile and controversial projects.
Managing Partner
Byron holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and brings nearly three decades of experience in business management, with a focus on accounting, contract law, and disaster recovery. As the leader of Atkinson Consulting’s main office in Savannah, Georgia, he is instrumental in staff training, process implementation, marketing, and strategic planning. Drawing on his experience as the owner and operator of four businesses, Byron is committed to driving the continued growth and success of Atkinson Consulting.
Program Manager
Melissa is the backbone of Atkinson Consulting, known for her exceptional ability to connect with anyone and ensure every interaction feels personal and professional. She plays a critical role in managing daily operations, from recruiting and staffing to overseeing security clearances, all with a relentless commitment to excellence. Melissa is instrumental in securing top-tier candidates and guiding them through successful deployments. Whether at her desk or on the move, she ensures the entire team operates seamlessly and feels like family.
Controller
With nearly twenty years’ experience in the financial industry, Meagan’s expertise spans payroll processing, expense reimbursements, monthly invoicing, and account reconciliation. In addition to her accounting duties, Meagan manages daily interactions with deployed staff, providing essential feedback and guidance. With a strong foundation in team management, accounting, auditing, and regulatory compliance, Meagan is committed to ensuring Atkinson Consulting operates with balance and efficiency.
Director – Government Services
Mike is a registered professional engineer holding a BSE in Civil Engineering and an MBA. With over 15 years of FEMA experience both as a consultant and a FEMA employee/disaster manager (GS 15) on FEMA’s largest disasters including Maria, Katrina and the Puerto Rico earthquakes. Some examples of his higher-level FEMA work include: FEMA Infrastructure Branch Directorate Chief for Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria and earthquakes (received the 2020 Administrator’s Award for this work), key technical engineering advisor to FEMA on the New Orleans $1.2B Joint Infrastructure Recovery Request, technical adviser to FEMA SES on OIG audit of $2B infrastructure grant resulting in positive report for the City of New Orleans and arbitration subject matter expert for the successful defense of City of Kenner roads program.
