When Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in September 2017, Atkinson was tasked with a critical mission: recruit over 100 qualified disaster recovery specialists in just two weeks.   Utilizing innovative techniques and strategies borrowed from the marketing industry, we successfully met this challenging deadline.
 
Unlike traditional recruitment methods that rely on job ads, Atkinson employs a proactive recruiting strategy to identify and engage the best fits directly, significantly speeding up the hiring process and enhancing the quality of hires. This approach was crucial in rapidly assembling a team of dependable, highly skilled, and predominantly bilingual professionals, including locals familiar with the island’s culture and challenges.  
 
As the primary point of contact for applicants, Atkinson’s professionals were instrumental in providing essential customer service and programmatic guidance throughout the Public Assistance (PA) grant process. The team also played a pivotal role in overcoming the logistical barriers that had hindered recovery efforts for months.  Their expertise and local knowledge streamlined the grant application and delivery process, accelerating the disbursement of funds necessary for crucial repairs.
